Alcool, droghe, dipendenze da sesso, relazioni turbolente, truffe allo stato, crimini di ogni tipo, vicini molesti, poliziotti corrotti, derive degradanti ed eccessi sono la norma. Una dopo l’altra, le storie della famiglia Gallagher ci avvolgono in una strana coperta piena di spine che però, ogni tanto diventa di una dolcezza tanto assurda quanto inaspettata.

What does it mean to mourn for the end of a television series?
A television series that reaches its eleventh season and that, after 10 years, accompanies us in the life of a dysfunctional family affected by all kinds of problems.
Chicago is the backdrop, the south side in particular. The most dangerous and infamous part of the gentrifying city is a major protagonist of the series.
Alcohol, drugs, sex addictions, turbulent relationships, state scams, crimes of all sorts, harassing neighbours, corrupt cops, degrading drifts and excesses are the norm. One after the other, the stories of the Gallagher family wrap us in a strange blanket full of thorns which, however, every now and then, it becomes of a sweetness as absurd as it is unexpected.
Nobody really wants to live in those situations and at the same time those character disturbances, those knotted and complex existences brought to the paroxysm of events to the limits of the credible, who talk about humanity, of ties, of struggle against adversity. Some born from our own defects. A kaleidoscope of contradictions and contortions of life such that even the holes in the script go unnoticed.
