The counterintuitive and the digital, rethinking everything

The digital and the counterintuitive way

The more I insist in understanding digital, the more I happen to think in a counterintuitive way, and I feel as if it were something unnatural (damn it!). It is likely when you try to catch the engagement as far as quantum physics is concerned. It is a hard matter, of course.

My finitude

This means that I can think beyond my own experience and my own “nature”, and that I can think of something that I am sure I won’t be able to experience. This means that thought has its own ability to transcend my finitude, my human condition, my corporeality and even my spirituality.

Someone could say: “Why wondering? Since ever philosophy tells it, building its kingdom on it ”. Therefore, let us go on attending to school of philosophy, it will help us.

The role of experience

However, some doubts arise. By crossing and hearing counterintuitive thoughts means that intuition, as well as experience, cannot represent a reference for everything. It also means that my experience is however limited, and that in any case there is a significant difference between experience and thought.

In fact, we have been considering our intelligence as something that transcends our experience and that can grasp not only our intuitive ability, but also that the world as a whole is like us and for us. So everything “is due to us”.

The empirical method as a presumption of truth

We have also learned that what transcends is not only a power, but also a limit and that our anthropic presumption, our belief that we are made in the image of God – and therefore of the Whole – deserve at least some doubts. And this has given us some confidence in keeping experience and intelligence separate and therefore in starting a counterintuitive thought, with unthinkable consequences. And this  is one of the advantages that sciences give us, even if they tend to make themselves legitimized by empirical method, that is, by a presumption of truth between experience, knowledge, world.

Hence a question arises: where to start from?

The anthropic experience should no longer be used as a principle of truth

On purpose, I make a certainly provocative, almost crazy proposition, namely that the data of anthropic experience should no longer be used as a principle of truth. And the restart is obviously in the digital, isn’t it?
