Summit Roma, un altro Paese – Another Italy

Another Italy

The leaders of the world with their noses on the capital. And not to appreciate the wonders of the ancient Caput Mundi, and then to show a kind-hearted smile about today Italy, but to express one’s opinions on an urgent and stressful issue. Such is, in fact, the problem of the necessarily rapid vaccination all over the globe, and in the fastest possible way, with the necessary attention to poor countries. A nice message also to the giants manufacturers of vaccines which should avoid to impose their power commercially. It would be to the detriment of everything and everyone, no one excluded, not even them. All the big names, from any latitude in the world, China, USA, etc., have gazed on a double flywheel: Italy and its Prime Minister (and perhaps I should have reversed the order of the quotation). Mario Draghi, a calm and steady director, well aware of the high consideration he gains everywhere for his scientific and behavioral value, places himself, being the guide of Italy, as the epicenter of ideas and stimulus. Italy has stimulated the world and is committed to continuing to do so, and the whole of the participants have shown that they agreed. A memorable summit, almost as if the pandemic had been exploited on purpose which obviously does not exist at all.

For the meeting, Ursula von der Leyen was physically present in Rome, Italy. This time well equipped with an armchair, she poured clear and understandable docility towards Draghi and towards Italy. He crowned her behavior by rewarding an experience that has become and involuntary strong appeal to Italy. We refer to the two girls from Genoa who played tennis on the terraces of two different buildings, an image that was viral but, in this case, happily full of serious ethical content. It certainly is another element that has played its role in the attention of the world on the Peninsula. To this result another circumstance helped, i.e. the opening of the Venice Biennale, Architecture section, an internationally prestigious event in the cultural terrain, we mean a terrain that starts to be considered important for the growth and balance in society and between societies.

We become aware of how we would like Italy for itself and in relation to the other countries. Until the arrival of Draghi as a Prime Minister, we experienced great tension and fear for the many possible risks of instability Italy was going to take. His name is Mario and not Salvatore: no apology, and we all aspire people return to make their voice heard by voting, whenever possible. At the moment, we stress only realism and reality based on the wisdom of Sergio Mattarella, the President of the Republic.
